The Advantages of Premium Natural Stone Paving

1.

Rich & Authentic Aesthetics

Offers an authentic, high-end finish that synthetic materials cannot replicate. Every quarry-cut slab features individual veining and textures, giving your patio a distinct character.

2.

Decades of Structural Longevity

Materials like granite, limestone, and slate have been used in architecture for centuries due to their dense structural strength, easily withstanding extreme weather and heavy foot traffic.

3.

Solid-Core Colour Stability

Because the natural pigment runs consistently through the entire body of the stone rather than just a top coating, the surface will never fade, peel, or lose its lustre over time.

4.

Measurable Property Equity

Installing a professionally laid natural stone patio creates a high-value, permanent upgrade that enhances your home’s outdoor living appeal for buyers and surveyors alike.

Our 3-Step Precision Natural Stone Process

Step 1: Sub-Base & Drainage Preparation

We excavate the patio footprint to optimal depth, lay heavy-duty geotextile fabric, and compact an MOT Type 1 sub-base to prevent ground movement. Perimeter edge kerbs are solidly set in concrete.

Step 2: Slurry Priming & Full Bed Laying

To ensure dense stone like limestone, slate, and granite bonds permanently, we coat the underside of every slab with an SBR polymer slurry before laying it on a full 100% wet-mortar bed.

Step 3: Weatherproof Pointing & Handover

We fill expansion joints using high-performance exterior jointing compound. Our fully insured team carries out a thorough final site wash and applies specialist stone sealer where required.

FAQs

  • Which natural stone is best for a garden patio—Limestone, Slate, or Granite?

The choice depends on your design goals. Limestone offers a smooth, finely grained surface with dark, modern tones (like Kota Black). Slate provides rich, distinctive layered textures and high durability. Granite is the densest and most scratch-resistant option, perfect for heavy-use dining terraces.

  • Does natural stone need to be sealed?

Yes, we recommend sealing natural stone. Porous stones like limestone benefit from breathable sealers to prevent moisture staining and algae growth, while dense stones like granite benefit from oil-resistant sealing around outdoor dining and BBQ areas.

  • How much does a natural stone patio cost?

Natural stone patio installations across Berkshire generally range between £100 and £160 per square metre. Total costs depend on the stone chosen (Limestone, Slate, or Granite), site excavation requirements, step detailing, and perimeter kerbing. We offer free, fully itemized site surveys.

  • How do you prevent slate and granite slabs from lifting or loosening?

Slate and granite are extremely dense, low-porosity materials. To guarantee a permanent bond, we apply a high-grip polymer SBR slurry to the back of every slab before precision-laying it onto a full 100% wet-mortar bed.

  • Will the colour of my natural stone patio fade over time? A: Unlike surface-dyed concrete products, natural stone pigments run

Unlike surface-dyed concrete products, natural stone pigments run through the full depth of the slab. While sunlight and weather will naturally mature the surface patina over time, applying a protective stone sealer maintains deep, rich color tones for years.
