about this project

This elegant semi-detached property in Cox Green contacted us looking for cost-effective ideas to transform their front driveway.

The Cox Green area of Maidenhead, just southwest of the A404, is a popular and thriving hub for young families. It is from here that Patricia contacted us wanted some cost-effective ideas to transform her front driveway. This is a multi-car property which required something aesthetically pleasing but also not to break the bank!

After a consultation process where we discussed various options and a range of prices, we agreed on a largely gravel based design, featuring a stylish brick entrance and planting area to the left-hand side.

All the existing concrete, brick work and turfing was removed using a grab lorry. We then levelled the terrain before adding an mot type 1 sub-base. Following a process of compression and further levelling, came the visually appealing honeycomb tray and weed barrier.

The honeycomb tray is not there just to look good! The tray and the weed barrier play a vital role in helping to reduce stone separation and sinking, but critically helps to distribute the load of multiple vehicles.

The refined Staffordshire blue brick was installed across the entrance to the drive, whilst we also worked on installing a separate planting area heading to the doorway.

Once all of this was completed, the finishing touch was to lay our decorative stone. We settled on a 20mm flint shingle which gives the property a classic, yet refined finish that we're really proud of.
